Made Beautiful - Featuring Maura Ambrose

Maker, Maura Ambrose of Folk Fibers, has transformed hand quilting into a brand of her own. She hand dyes all her fabric, taking us picture by picture through those simple charms, walking us further until we've all reached the end of the quilt's story. As an avid Instagram follower of hers, I get to witness pieces of her process, put so visually well that I feel as though I know the quilt's insides and out.  She takes her photos with such care, that it brings life to where you can almost smell the onions skins and pomegranates soaking.  Nestled on her 10 acre farm between two cow fields outside of Austin, we talked about this next season in Folk Fibers...

Made Beautiful - featuring the Bee Girl

The honey bee needs more friends like Sarah Red-Laird.  She's working hard to bring honeybees closer to our hearts. She began the adventure of a nonprofit bee education program called the Bee Girl Organization in 2011 and has grown from teaching kid's programs to now speaking at national events and collaboration.  She keeps her roots in teaching children about the honeybee's science but has traveled all over the nation working wonders for bee education.  Keeping a sustainable beauty in this earth is why she has so much passion for educating our nation's children about the honeybee on their land...

Sustainable Beauty featuring Ponderosa and Thyme

Ponderosa and Thyme is an event and workshop florist who works throughout the Portland Metro area, doing some gorgeous, progressive floral designs.  They have recently been voted Best Floral Design by Junebug Weddings.  And are known for their innovative foraged floral work featured many times in Oregon Bride Magazine.  Katie Davis, the owner of Ponderosa and Thyme, and her floral accomplice, Katie Stewart, have an evident passion for all things woodsy and create worlds within their flower work that you can not only see, but smell, touch, and sense.  We at Medicine Mama's Apothecary sat down with Katie Davis and talked with her about how she's found sustainable beauty and has been able to bring it to life in her work, home, and heart...
